WOOD RIVER VALLEY HOUSE.
The Wood River Valley House was designed by the Solstice Design Studio team to maximize usable square footage, to provide hidden yet convenient storage and to eliminate daily clutter, while providing a super efficient refuge tucked among cottonwoods along the banks of the Big Wood River in Idaho.
The structure is composed of three distinct volumes, connected by transitional spaces that yield long sightlines, capturing the incredible wooded and mountain ridge views that surround the home. The gable roofs of the primary structures and the exterior material selections nod to vernacular building traditions while modern flourishes compliment the building performance and overall aesthetic.
Each room in the home was thoughtfully placed to compliment the lifestyle of the Owners and their bustling, growing family. An outdoor entertaining area to host family and friends complete with an outdoor kitchen, firepit with direct access to the property’s private woods has been included to maximize the functionality of the total project site.
Super insulated building envelope with airtight construction and minimal thermal bridging includes triple pane windows, fresh air heat recovery, solar power, passive heating and cooling and low VOC materials throughout.
